William "Will" Holsinger

William H. “Will” Holsinger, a resident of San Mateo, was appointed to the Harbor District Commission to fill a vacancy in 2012 left by Sally Campbell's passing, and then appointed once again by the Commssion to fill the vacancy left by Leo Padreddii's passing.
Will Holsinger, a second-generation native of the Peninsula, where his maternal grandfather, Tom Meredith, operated stables in San Mateo in the 1930s and 40s. His mother, Lina Meredith, also a horsewoman, had a commercial fishing license, working out of Drake’s Bay in Marin County in the 1960s and ‘70s. In addition to occasional crewing for some of her friends as a teenager, Will Holsinger also worked for a time at what is now Drake’s Bay Oyster Company, as well as at a small artichoke farm in Olema, CA. Will Holsinger learned to sail on Tomales Bay, renewing that interest for a time in Newport Beach and later in San Francisco Bay. He dry-docked a small sailing boat at Oyster Point Harbor in the early 1980s.
Will Holsinger has practiced law in San Mateo County since 1979, serving as personal legal counsel to individuals, professionals and businesses. He has been active in community service in San Mateo County for over 40 years, currently serving on the board of directors of Project Ninety, Inc., a preeminent drug and alcohol treatment program, and is a certified hospice and director care volunteer for Mission Hospice. He previously served on the board of directors for Women’s Recovery Association (1992-1996 and 2005–2009. He also served on the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for the Phase II development of Bay Meadows, as well as on the Personnel Board for the City of San Mateo.
Will Holsinger received his law degree from U.C. Hastings College of the Law, in 1978, his undergraduate degree from Sonoma State University, in 1973, majoring in Mexican-American Studies, and an Associate of Arts degree from the College of San Mateo in 1971. Before and after law school, Will Holsinger worked for the late Congressman Leo J. Ryan, both in Washington, D.C. and the district office in San Mateo.
