Nicole David
Harbor Commissioner 2014-2015
Commissioner Nicole David was elected to the San Mateo County Harbor Commission in November 2014 and served in the capcacity of Board Secretary until her resignation in November 2015.
David grew up in Germany and graduated with a Master's Degree in Marine Biology from the University of Berlin. She worked for the San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI), a non-profit scientific organization that studies water quality issues. Her background in marine and freshwater ecology with a focus on coastal waters and threatened ecosystems has allowed her to contribute to and lead SFEI watershed projects. Her research is directed toward studying contamination in storm-water runoff in agricultural and urban areas. David has also served on the Board of Directors for the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, including one year as president.
An avid open water swimmer, she passionately is concerned about the marine environment and the community she lives in. Her compassion and enthusiasm to support the community is reflected in her work for Swim Across America, a non-profit organization that raises money for pediatric cancer research through swimming-related events.
